Born in St. Louis Missouri USA, Mark had a strong desire for music (particularly drums) at 2 years of age. Singing and beating on everything in his mom’s house from pillows to pots and pans, it was clear that music was the way for him. Mark had his first opportunity to explore music at the age of 6 by playing drums at his home church.

Stoyan Yankulov breaks and stretches the traditional way of playing percussion instruments by applying new techniques and non-standard musical ideas. He is playing jazz, pop, rock and ethnic music. Combining authentic folklore with new ways of expression with percussion instruments Stoyan Yankoulov reveals the unlimited variety and emotional intensity of the unique Bulgarian culture.
